Assign mobile data deliberately
Select the travel eSIM as the only mobile-data line after arrival. Disable automatic mobile-data switching so the phone cannot fall back to your home line when the travel network is weak.
Keep the home line only when needed
You may keep the home SIM enabled for incoming verification messages, but calls, voicemail, and outgoing texts can still create carrier charges. Review your home carrier's roaming terms before departure.
- Turn data roaming off for the home line.
- Turn data roaming on only for the travel eSIM.
- Use data-based calling apps when appropriate.
- Check the active data-line indicator after landing.
Verify with a quick test
Turn off Wi-Fi, load a lightweight webpage, and confirm the data-usage counter increases on the travel eSIM rather than the home line. Re-enable Wi-Fi after the test.
