Keep your home carrier out of the data path
Dual-SIM settings matter as much as the plan. Set the travel eSIM as the mobile-data line, turn data roaming off for the home line, and disable automatic mobile-data switching. You can keep the home line enabled for verification messages only if you understand its roaming charges.
Before you leave Wi-Fi
Save offline maps, lodging information, transport tickets, and support details. After the travel eSIM connects, test it with Wi-Fi disabled and make sure the phone reports data use on the travel line. This gives you a clean setup before you need navigation or transport outside the airport.
